My Ankle Seems to Want More Rest
I’m still trying to figure out this sprained ankle situation. I think I may have to call the doctor tomorrow (you may remember from a previous blog that I had an appointment at one time that I had to cancel due to changing insurance). I only did 30 minutes of step aerobics today and then a few minutes of weighted leg work (would have done more but it was time to pick up Isaac from the bus stop and then the boys didn’t give me enough free time to finish the workout) but my ankle is aching again. I also noticed it is sore to the touch a bit above the ankle--almost like it’s bruised though it’s not visible. I think that might just be from wearing the tight ankle brace while working out.
The current plan tomorrow is to do either a circuit workout or a kickboxing workout, but it will depend on how the ankle is feeling when the time comes. I am definitely going to fit in more rest days or at least more Pilates days into my rotation for the time being. As I wrote about in my last blog entry, I used to do Pilates more often and I liked how it made me more flexible and strengthened my core. I still need plenty of help in both those areas, and while I am still apparently limited by my ankle I might as well focus on those things again. So I’m going to attempt about 3-4 cardio and weights circuits in a week and 2-3 days of Pilates and my usual 1 day of rest. I’ll have to think about how to work that out by next week’s rotation. I’ve already altered this week’s plan accordingly.
