Is the Ankle Ready for This?
Well, I may already be changing my current rotation! I know I have a bad habit of fiddling with my planned rotations, but I gotta do what I gotta do. Last night after having done Cathe’s Low Impact Circuit in the afternoon, I noticed that my ankle was giving me a little trouble. It wasn’t serious terrible pain, but it was stiff and aching a bit--enough that it wouldn’t let me forget it, if that makes sense. Now I’m wondering if I’m jumping back into working out a little too eagerly. Even though LIC is in fact low impact, it still made my ankle ache. Here’s what I’m thinking: perhaps I should switch to a slower re-introduction to full workout mode. I do feel like I want to do circuits, so I could alternate circuit workouts with days of just Pilates or yoga, thus giving my ankle a little more rest and stretching my body a little more. I also like what Pilates does for my core strength and flexibility when I do it regularly.
So, does anyone have any advice for me? Is it just that my ankle is not used to working out and I should jump right in to regular workouts, or should I ease into it with the alternating circuits and Pilates plan?
