Fizzlin' Not Sizzlin'

Well, this week my workout plans have kind of fizzled. I've done some unplanned rest days. At least this time it's not because of some lame injury. A few days ago we had lots of new windows put in so I had 2 guys all over the house pounding away installing them. Then yesterday about a dozen guys started putting up our new siding, banging and hammering and climbing all over the house. They got a lot done in one day, but couldn't continue today because of the incessant rain. However, the window guy came back to put in one last window and haul away the old windows. So basically I'm just giving you the excuse that I've had workers in an around and on the house a lot this week and it hasn't been conducive to business as usual. It didn't help that Ewan didn't nap for 2 days in a row (I didn't even try to get him to nap yesterday with all the noise). So...basically I only worked out 2 of the last 5 days. Eek! My eating has been mostly on plan except (like last week) tonight's meal turned out to be my free dinner, so tomorrow evening I'll eat on plan instead of having that Saturday night cheat meal.

I think next week I'll start that second rotation I mentioned earlier this week--alternating circuits with Pilates/yoga. It seems like a good idea--we'll see how it goes. At this time of year I also spend a lot of time walking (except today with all the rain) so that gives me a little extra cardio anyway.

Being a Mom Can Really Interfere With Fitness Plans

Big surprise--I'm already tweaking this week's rotation. Yesterday turned out to be a day full of errands, cleaning, and organizing--a bit of spring reorganization. Also, my oldest came home from school early, which messed up the schedule further. So the planned workout didn't happen. So here's the readjusted schedule. I decided today should be a yoga day because the bad ankle is aching and I have a huge headache. A good yoga workout should help with both.

Monday.............errands, cleaning, organizing, kids (mom stuff)
Tuesday.............Yin Yoga (Jennifer Kries) & physical therapy exercises
Wednesday........Get Ripped & Chiseled--upper body only (Jari Love)
Thursday...........Yogini Workout (Ellen Barrett) & physical therapy exercises
Friday................30-Minutes to Fitness--both workouts minus lower body (Kelly Coffey-Meyer)
Saturday............Crunch: Candlelight Yoga (Sara Ivanhoe) & physical therapy exercises
Sunday.............. rest

Sick Kids

My boys were very sick today, but before they went downhill I did manage to get in a workout--Amy Bento's ASCII. I did combos 1,4,5, and then all combos (1-5) twice. In between I did some higher intensity intervals.

I enjoyed my workout, but not long after I attempted to feed the boys and they didn't keep it down. :-( My poor boys. I hope to go to bed early and get up early to work out (depending on how much I'm up in the night--hoping they sleep through, though).

Monday

I know I failed in my effort to work out yesterday, but I got back on that horse today. I did a good upper body workout with Cathe's Pyramid Upper Body. I did the pyramid up only premix--pretty tough even when you do only the upside of the premix. I did it in the morning before taking my oldest son to the doctor (he has a stomach virus). I'm glad I got it done then because later in the afternoon my younger son turned out to be sick as well. What a day. I hate seeing my babies sick.

Tomorrow is a cardio day. I'd like to do some Amy Bento--either her new Hi-Low Knockout or my current favorite ASCII. Or maybe I'll get lucky and her new In the Ring workout will arrive.

Please keep my little feverish and tummy-sick kids in your prayers.

Today Was a Day

Wow, what a week this is. My kids are off school from today until next Tuesday. I woke up prepared for a sort of lazy cozy day indoors with my two boys. Of course, they woke me up earlier than I would have liked, but that's par for the course with rugrats. As soon as I woke up I realized it was pretty cold. Then I realized our heat was not working. Again. It was just out one day last week and the plumber came by and supposedly fixed it. So the dude had to come back today, but this time he wasn't able to make it until almost 5 p.m. Luckily it wasn't too cold today so it only got down to about 60 in here. Still, it sort of messed up our day. However, we survived and I actually managed to be productive more than lazy.

I also got in a great upper body workout, Body for Life style. I pushed myself and worked hard. I love a good workout like that when I feel that sense of accomplishment when I'm done. It's like when I finished a good essay in college (o.k. I was an English major and a bit of a nerd).

Tomorrow is cardio--I'm thinking maybe Amy Bento's Kickbox Xtreme or Cathe's Low Max.

Another Ewan Video

I've got a new video of my 2-year old Ewan exercising. This time he's stretching with Amy Bento's ASCII.

You can find it by clicking here.

Ewan Exercising

I just wanted to share this silly video of my 2-year old, Ewan. He's demonstrating the use of the aerobic step in his own special toddler way.

You can find it by clicking here.

I'm not sure why he's breathing heavily or sort of grunting. Either he was filling his diaper at the time or he's really good at imitating the noise Mommy makes when working out.
