This Week's Fitness Plan

I'm getting back to a serious rotation this week now that the July 4th party is over. Here's next week:

MONDAY...........Pyramid Upper Body (Cathe Friedrich)

TUESDAY..........Step Jump & Pump cardio premix (Cathe)

WEDNESDAY.....Pyramid Lower Body (Cathe)

THURSDAY........Kick Punch & Crunch (Cathe)

FRIDAY.............Kettlebell Kettlebells the Iron Core Way Vol. 1 (Sarah Lurie)

SATURDAY........Walk or 4DS Higher Intensity Step cardio(Cathe)

SUNDAY............Rest

This is part of a month-long "Ready for Road Trip Rotation" I've put together to prepare for the August Cathe Road Trip. I've added this rotation to my Current Rotation document as well as the regular Workout Rotations document on the Tools page. You can see I'm going heavy on the Cathe workouts, as planned. If you've never done a Cathe workout, you've got to give her a try--she's incredible!

Preparing for July 4th and August Road Trip

Today I finally sent in my "Who's Who Form" for the August Cathe Road Trip. I also sent in this picture. That might mean I should straighten my hair for the road trip. Lately I've been letting my hair air-dry in that crazy Robert Plant frizzy waves look. Hmm, I also look very pale in that pic. Of course, I am very pale, so I might as well look like myself.

Anyway, I did at least work out today. I did Sarah Lurie's Kettlebells the Iron Core Way Volume 1. I love using kettlebells. I want more kettlebell workouts but I'm going to wait until after the Cathe Road Trip, since I want to do more Cathe stuff for now.

Tomorrow I'm going to continue the flurry of cleaning. The house is pretty good already, but I'm going ahead and doing a big extra clean while I'm in the mood. I also hope to fit in some fun cardio (not just cleaning cardio).

New Workout Clothes!

I've been shopping a little again. I bought some new workout clothes from Nike.com in anticipation of the August Cathe Road Trip!

Here's what I got:

I first saw the pants on Cathe on her blog last July--I think when she was practicing for the 4-Day Split workouts. A lot of people loved these pants and she mentioned what kind they were (Nike Cropped Funky Vibe Pants). So I'm finally getting around to ordering some myself. I hope these fit o.k. so I can take them on the Road Trip.

Cathe Road Trip--I'm in for August!!!

I'm really so thrilled today. I registered today for a Cathe Road Trip. I can hardly think about anything else. In case you've never read my blog before or are not a fellow Cathe-ite (or Cathlete as some like to call us), Cathe Friedrich is an outstanding workout video instructor. She's also a wonderful, sweet, down-to-earth person (from what I hear) and every so often she has a road trip for her fans. At these road trips, 105 people (mostly women) show up for a weekend to hang with Cathe--work out with her, eat some dinner with her, play games, that sort of thing. I'll be able to describe it better in August after I go to my first Road Trip! This year she's actually having two, and after negotiations with the hubby, I found that August was the one for me.

I'm not just excited about meeting Cathe, but also about meeting many online fellow Cathe-ite friends. I've been chatting on her forums for over a year now (since discovering Cathe's workouts) so I feel like I have lots of good buddies but haven't met any of them in person yet. It will be nice to put a face with some names. I'm only sorry I won't get to meet those who are going in July.

Spider-Man Demonstrates Yoga Poses Part 3

Well, Spider-Man and I found out today that we're going to have to wait for the August Cathe Road Trip, which we can't sign up for until next week. We really wanted to sign up today for the July trip, but alas, no such luck. My hubby is not sure he can be available to watch the kids for the July one, so we must wait. So Spidey and I decided to relax by doing some more yoga. Here are a few of his poses.

Here Spider-Man demonstrates the Warrior I pose. He should be just looking up or something but instead he's looking toward the camera--such a show-off.

Now Spidey shows us his lovely Warrior II pose. Not bad, dude.

Spider-Man seemed to enjoy these twisting poses, but I think it would have been more correct if he'd bent his knees. He has wonky knees like me, though, so he prefers not to bend them sometimes.

I have lots more to teach the S-Man, so you can expect more photos soon.

Cathe Road Trip!!!

I am pretty excited about the possibility that I might get to attend a Cathe Road Trip this summer! She's actually planning two! If you care, then you probably already know that, anyway. I'm still working on convincing my hubby that it's worth the money and to get him to watch the boys for that weekend. I hope to go to the one in July, so we'll see if it happens.

I'm working on a new silly project to add to the blog (haven't had enough fun around here lately). I've taken some pictures of one of my sons' Spider-Man action figures doing various yoga poses. I'll post some of them tomorrow. Meanwhile you can enjoy the picture here of Spider-Man. You can see he is also excited about the upcoming Road Trip possibilities. Woot!

Why Am I Always Sick at my Favorite Time of Year?

Wow, it's that busy time of year. Tonight I went to the Winter Concert at my oldest son's elementary school. It was fun to see him sing with the other Kindergarteners, but the room was miserably crowded. Yikes. I also ended up sitting in the back corner next to a door that kept opening and letting in the chill air. I don't know if that's the cause, but my throat is more sore tonight and I'm coughing again. I've been feeling a bit under the weather again the last few days, but just cold symptoms, no fever or anything.

In spite of feeling a bit sick and very sleepy from last night's cold medicine, I went ahead and had a great workout today. I did the Kickbox & Legs workout from Cathe Friedrich's 4-Day Split. I had to take a couple breaks during the cardio because of feeling a bit dopey, but overall it felt like a successful workout. Yesterday I ended up resting because of feeling ill, but I just really wanted to go ahead and do something today.

Here's my workout rotation for this week:

MON.........Upper Body Weights & Cardio Circuit....4DS Higher Intensity Circuit premix (Cathe Friedrich)
TUES........Rest
WED.........Lower Body & Short Cardio....................4DS Kickbox (Cathe Friedrich)
THURS.....Yoga/Pilates..........................................Bosu Long & Lean (Chalene Johnson)
FRI............Yoga + Circuit........................................Yoga class + Cardio/Sculpt Fitness (Kelly Coffey-Meyer)
SAT...........Cardio...................................................Jog (weather permitting) or step aerobics
SUN..........Rest
