Random Thoughts

Yesterday I did step aerobics and my ankle felt fine. It still feels fine today. I also went back to yoga class today and she did a lot of lunging and stuff, which I've been very wary about doing since the injury, but was able to do today. So I feel very confident that I'll be able to stop the physical therapy after the appointments I have scheduled next week.

The best part of yoga today was at the end when we do the Shavasana (or "corpse" pose). I really felt grounded today. By the end I felt so heavy and glued to the floor (in a good way). Completely relaxed. It was a great feeling. I felt like a good little yogi. Or a good slightly pudgy yogi--little is not really descriptive of me. My friend Jen from Advanced Workouts wrote a great blog about the Shavasana pose recently, which you can read here.

I still haven't decided what kind of rotation I'll start next week. I think I should get back to focusing on weight loss. Any suggestions?

Ready to Test the Ankle

I talked to my physical therapist today about when I'd be done coming to therapy and get back to working out. He gave me the go ahead to start trying step aerobics, etc. again and if I feel o.k. then my two appointments next week could be my last therapy appointments. I felt great at the visit today and really aced the balance exercises he had me doing. He tried harder ones and I still did pretty well. Of course, after all that ankle work I came home and my ankle was sore. I'm hoping that's just because I worked really hard on it. I thought about going ahead and trying some step this afternoon, but ended up taking a nap instead. Hey, don't laugh--I'm still a little sick. I put Ewan down for a nap and decided I needed a rest myself.

I hope to get up and do something tomorrow, but I'm going to make myself ease back into it--I won't start with my toughest workouts, especially since I've been on almost total rest for a week and a half. Maybe tomorrow I'll try some kind of cardio & weights circuit workout--I have a new Kelly Coffey-Meyer one I haven't tried yet or maybe Cathe's Low Impact Circuit. Then Friday I hope to go back to the yoga class and I might try something else later that afternoon. Of course, I'm still not 100% healthy so i know I should be careful with it. If this feels o.k. with my ankle, I might start Cathe's Nov. '07 rotation next week.

Resistance Band Travel Workout

One of the Cathe forum members (NY25) has posted a great resistance band travel workout on the cathe.com forums. You can find it by clicking here. I love my own resistance bands and used one for a nice upper body workout last time I traveled.
