Rambling Review of Circuit Zone
Have I mentioned yet how much I like Tracey Staehle's new Circuit Zone DVD? I think I've at least mentioned it, but I want to go into more detail. I was a little hesitant when I first ordered with her latest presale, but if the rest of them are like Circuit Zone, I feel much better about the purchase now. I also like what I've done of Core Blast, though I haven't done all the segments yet. Her other new workouts are not out yet (Strike Zone--a kickboxing workout I'm very excited about, Steady State Step, and Hi-Lo Med Ball--the only one I didn't order as I'm not a big hi-lo fan).
Circuit Zone has 7 regular circuits plus 5 bonus circuits sprinkled through it. I think when I ordered it I thought it was going to be a cardio/weights circuit, but it's not exactly that. There are some cardio moves--but like plyo exercises for the legs, not really straight up cardio. However, with the fast pace and intensity of the workout, I still burn about 400 calories, not bad for a little more than an hour of weight work. The DVD is full of variety, not just of moves, but of equipment. However, she also has 2 modifiers--one modifying to an easier level, and one kicking it up a notch. They also modify for different equipment. Fortunately I now have all the equipment used. A couple times it was hard to move stuff around and get ready for the next segment, but it wasn't too bad. It just took a quick pause to shift and then get going. I think it will go faster when I'm more familiar with the workout.
I'm trying to figure out why I love this workout so much. It's not a given that I love all Tracey's stuff as I've sold a few of her other workouts. There's something great about this workout, though. Like with favorites Amy Bento's Advanced Step Challenge II or Cathe's Low Impact Circuit, it's going to be the kind of workout I have to stop myself from doing more often. Maybe I should just give into those urges and do these favorites all the time instead of buying so many new workouts I don't even try.... There's an idea for my next rotation, I suppose.
Here's a sign of how much I like this workout--one of my favorite parts is the Bonus Tricep Burn circuit. I usually hate tricep work! She does this thing lying down on a foam roller and tossing a medicine ball around. I also like the lower body work, which is usually what I dread the most (especially after all my stupid injuries this past year). Yet, in spite of enjoying myself, I feel it the next day.
My only complaint about this workout is that I wish there was more bicep work. That part seems pretty fast to me. However, with the way the circuits are chaptered out, it's easy enough to replay it for more bicep work. I went heavier last time and will probably go even heavier next time to make it more challenging. Oh yeah, and those equipment changes are a little fast, so I guess that's sort of a second complaint, but it's not a big deal.
Note: I also posted a lot of this review over on the Circuit Zone page on Collage Video, so hopefully they'll print that one on there soon. I gave it 5 stars.

Pretty Good Day for Working Out and Eating
Today for my workout I did Tracey Staehle's new CircuitZone. I only did the 30-minute (or so) Fast premix, though. It was a decent workout but felt like just a taste of the full workout. She moves along at a good clip and uses a fun mix of equipment (but showing modifications using more standard stuff). I'll probably try the rest soon. I hope to add it to my Tracey Staehle worksheets soon and then I'll post the update to my Fitness Tools.
7 am: Coffee w/ raw sugar and skim milk
9 am: One scrambled Egg Beater, Kashi Heart to Heart Blueberry Clusters cereal with skim milk
11 am: Myoplex Lite Bar, banana
1 pm: Veggie soup (Progresso WW 0-pt soup), Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal
4 pm: Steamed broccoli (and this did such a number on my tummy--gas--eek), 1/2 fat cheddar cheese--small chunk, small cup unsweetened applesauce
7 pm: Protein pancakes (recipe from Eating for Life) with raspberries, strawberries, & sugar-free syrup--I had thi same dinner yesterday--had planned something else for tonight but changed mind. Hubby wasn't home for dinner so I wasn't making a big meal for the boys--decided to just heat up the second half of the pancakes.
9 pm: Dannon Light & Fit yogurt, glass skim milk
I got plenty of water today, so that's improved. I think I need to work on tipping my fruit/veg balance to more veggies. Of course with my sweet tooth I prefer fruit, and it's at least better than a lot of other stuff I could be eating.

Upcoming Presale Shipments
I don't know if I mentioned before that I gave up shopping for Lent (I know I mentioned it on my Spiritual Blog, but maybe not here). I won't go into details about that on this blog, but needless to say, one of the hardest parts is not buying new workouts. Honestly, it's not like I need to be buying them when I already own some I haven't even tried yet. Luckily, several great fitness DVD presales happened before Lent, so I managed to pay for those already and I'm just awaiting their arrival.
Here are some I'm looking forward to and their estimated shipping dates.
Creative Instructors Aerobics: I ordered All Cardio Hi-Low Knockout with Amy Bento, All Cardio Step with Gay Gasper, and Tap-Less and Step More with Deidre Morris. These may ship as early as the 14th--by the end of this week, or maybe not until next week. The one I'm most excited about (and least likely to end up selling later) is of course Amy's Hi-Low Knockout. Amy rocks.
Amy Bento: In the Ring. Amy has a clip up for this one and it looks pretty great. Also, it has intervals which is good for my BFL workouts. She estimates shipping starting March 21st--not long now. I really can't wait to get this one (but I'm patiently waiting and glad it's paid for already).
Kelly Coffey-Meyer: 30 Minutes to Fitness. Any time an instructor promises something in 30 minutes, it's gotta be a great sell. Sure, I like to exercise and some days I want a good long workout, but sometimes 30 minutes is plenty. I haven't seen an estimated shipping date, but I imagine it will be not long after the other two presales. She's working with the same producer, I believe--Greg Twombly from CIA.
Tracey Staehle: Body Master Challenge Series. I ordered 3 of the 5. I think I ordered Circuit Zone, Strike Zone, and Steady State Step. I don't know an estimated shipping date for these yet, but she's already filmed some of them, so hopefully not too long.
Cathe Friedrich (the Queen of Advanced Workouts!): STS--Shock Training System. This is going to be serious, hardcore stuff--the kind of program I'm both dying to try and dreading with fear and trembling. When they say, "Cathe Gets Serious" you know you're in for a butt-whooping. No idea yet when this one is coming out, because they are filming it now, but it will be HUGE. Hopefully some time this summer? It would be ideal for me if it came out just as I finished this round of Body for Life.

Tracey Staehle Weight Worksheets Are Ready
I finally have the Tracey Staehle weight worksheets ready. You can click here to go to the list of downloads to find it. Scroll down to where it says Tracey's Weight Worksheets.xls for Excel worksheets or Tracey's Weight Worksheets.doc to download them in Word. I put the weight work on there from High Intensity Kickbox Challenge, Sculpt Sweatfest, The Parts Series: Glute Camp, and The Parts Series, Strictly Upper Body. I didn't put the Total Body workout from The Parts Series because it's not weight focused at all--she just uses one set of light dumbbells and a medicine ball on that one. Also, if you are interested in the special bands she uses in Glute Camp, you can find them by clicking here. I believe if you do a search you can also find them at Amazon.
Also, I just checked Tracey's forums and saw she's thinking of ordering a bulk shipment of Versa Loop bands to sell with free shipping. So if you're a forum member, check it out here.

Tracey Staehle's new Upper Body Workout
I received the new Tracey Staehle DVDs yesterday and today I did her Strictly Upper Body workout from the Parts Series DVD. Tracey uses heavier weights in this workout than in her previous sculpting workouts. I liked how much she incorporated the Bosu (I'm always eager to use it now that I've got one). I liked that she did a lot more bicep stuff in this one than in the High Intensity Kickbox Challenge weight workout. The abs section at the end seemed a bit short, but also seemed pretty tough and effective--I'll see how sore I feel tomorrow. Also, though it seemed short, she also has an abs section on her Glute Camp workout on the same DVD, as well as on the new High Step Intensity Mix 2 DVD.
As for the weight worksheets, Tracey kindly included some weight info with the DVDs, which made it really easy to add the details to the Excel spreadsheets I'm making. I finished SUB today and tomorrow will add the GC weights, since I plan to try it tomorrow. Soon after I should be able to post the worksheets for Tracey's workouts here on the blog.

Quick Note on Tracey Staehle Worksheets
I've got the worksheets done for the couple of sculpting workouts Tracey already has out--Sculpt Sweatfest and the second section of High Intensity Kickbox Challenge. (I won't be doing one for the Core Strength & Conditioning one since I don't have that workout yet and it's probably not necessary to record weight numbers for it.) I haven't yet received her new workouts, though I preordered and from what I understand, they've been shipped. I hope to receive them VERY soon. Perhaps Monday! Once I receive those, I'll finish the worksheets and post them here. I've already got the pages set up to fill out. I'm pretty excited to receive her new workouts, particularly the Parts Series sculpting workouts, since I can't do the High Intensity Step Mix 2 until my ankle heals.
